Seattle Academy creates full-time AI coaching role
For Digital Citizenship Week, Seattle Academy announced a full-time AI Instructional Coach position for the 2026–27 school year. Mark Betnel, who has taught Innovations and science courses and developed Upper School curricula during 13 years at the school, will take the role. The school says it wants students to understand AI’s strengths, limitations and ethical challenges.

Seattle Academy soccer player earns U-17 call-up
Seattle Academy said senior Maddie M. ’27 has been called up to the U-17 Women’s National Soccer Team and will join 20 other players from across the United States at the FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup later this month. She has played since age five and plans to continue at Stanford next year.
